Association of Filipino Teachers and Educators in America, Inc.
The Association of Filipino Teachers and Educators in America (AFTEA), Inc. was established in December 22, 2006. The founder of the organization is Mr. Pancho M. Bernaldez who came to New York City as a public school teacher in September 2003. With few of his friends and colleagues as Board of Directors, they started to create an organization to help fellow teachers in their struggles of surviving as a classroom teacher in the New York City Public Schools. The Internal Revenue Service of the US government finally approved the organization as a non-profit organization named the Association of Filipino Teachers in Eastern America (AFTEA), Incorporated. In 2018, the AFTEA Executive Board approved the change of name into the Association of Filipino Teachers and Educators in America (AFTEA), Incorporated to provide wider scope in memberships and affiliations.
Honorable Steven Raga, New York State Assembly member of District 30 is the Inducting Officer of the 2024-2025 AFTEA Officers and Board Members held on December 16, 2023 at 58 Manor, Woodside, New York.
